Korea is well-known for its traditional cuisine, and the place
to get to grips with this in HCMC is Yet-Gol. Conveniently
situated in central District 1, down a quiet side-street in the
heart of backpacker land, Yet-gol is a cosy place. complete with
traditional Korean decor and friendly service. And the food is not
bad either!
There's an extensive menu to choose from. Try the
Deung Shim Gut, tasty slices of sirloin beef (VND 170,000), or the
Pajun (VND 100,000), green onion pancake with mixed seafood.
Slightly cheaper is the Noodles and Soup selection (VND 50,000 -
70,000), which features a refreshing, curious clod noodle soup
with soybean, or in contrast, a bowl of hot and spicy Kim chi
soup, served with rice. Don't miss the glazed BBQ beef ribs (VN
90,000), or the energy-giving, nutritious chicken stew with
ginseng (VND 90,000). Also recommended are the mouth-watering
slices of steamed pork (VND 150,000 per medium dish). Steamed with
various kinds of herbs and spices, and accompanied, like all the
dishes with several kinds of vegetables and kim chi, the pork meat
is very spicy, yet deliciously tender. Taste buds under siege,
round off the meal with a refreshing glass of delicate Korean
herbal tea. |
