It's
fairly unassuming, hidden down one of several alleyways off
legendary Pham Ngu Lao Street. But long established Zen Restaurant
has an excellent reputation amongst vegetarians and food lovers
alike. In its no-frills surroundings, Zen doesn't just serve up a
variety of vegetarian dishes: it imaginatively transform them into
taste-bud delights.Among the extensive menu, there's a range of
international dishes: the Indian, featuring fruit curries, spiced
potato samosas and piquant chickpeas with nan chapattis, comes
recommended. But the Italian and Mexican selection, featuring
fresh Italian brushcetta, guacamole and pumpkin seed with
tortillas, are also well worth investigating. These are
complimented with a range of delicious fruit shakes, such as
banana lassi. However, the main beauty of Zen are the incredibly
low prices; averaging VND 8,000 to VND 10,000, you can afford to
try several dishes at once. Being vegetarian was never this much
fun. |
