dau islet |
This small island is about 1 km away from the mainland (Do Son
town).
|
Under Ly-Tran dynasties, the islet was one of the major outposts for
Dai Viet troops during the resistance against foreign invaders. The
French colonialists captured Hai Phong in 1873 and 3 years later,
they constructed Hai Phong port.
The lighthouse on Dau islet was
started in 1884 and completed in 1896. In June 1898, it was put into
operation. The island was therefore named Hon Dau Lighthouse.
Paying a visit to Dau Island, tourists will have a chance to see its
forests.
|
On this island there is also an ancient temple named Nam Hai Dai Vuong with a mysterious legend. |
